Comedy: Play On by Rick Abbott

AUDITION DATES: 7 p.m., Nov. 17 and 18, 2025. Callbacks, if needed, TBD
Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script. Auditioners will fill out an audition form and provide a list of scheduling conflicts. (Rehearsal schedules will be created based on cast availability.)

AGGIE MANVILLE, presenting female or male, 40s-70s — The stage manager and prompter.
GERALDINE “GERRY” DUNBAR, presenting female or male, middle-aged — A community theatre director.
HENRY BENISH, presenting male, mid-50s — He is a character actor in the role of Lord Dudley.
POLLY BENISH, presenting female, mid-50s — She is a character actress in the role of Lady Margaret.
MARLA “SMITTY” SMITH, presenting female, 20s — She is a supporting player in the role of Doris the maid.
SAUL WILSON, presenting male, mid-40s — He plays a villain, Doctor Rex Forbes.
BILLY CAREWE, presenting male, 20s — He plays the juvenile, Stephen Sellers.
VIOLET IMBRY, presenting female, 20s — She is the ingenue, Diana Lassiter.
LOUISE PEARY, presenting female or male, mid-30s — This person is a sound and lighting and scenic technician.
PHYLLIS MONTAGUE, presenting female, 40s-50s — She is a novice playwright from the community.
SYNOPSIS: This hilarious story features a theatre group trying to put on a play in spite of interference from a haughty author who keeps revising the script. Act I is a rehearsal of the dreadful show; Act II is the near disastrous dress rehearsal; and the final act is the actual performance, in which anything that can go wrong, does. The audience is treated to a madcap climax and a thoroughly hilarious romp.

Comedy: The Oldest Profession by Paula Vogel

ROLES:
VERA, presenting female, 30s-plus — The youngest in the group, she is loyal, sensitive, no matter her years, still a girl. She is a devout Catholic and has a strong work ethic.
EDNA, presenting female, 30s-plus — She is a good time girl who loves her work and is assigned to the more adventurous clientele.
LILLIAN, presenting female, 30s-plus — She turns the heads of much younger men and is a woman of great style and great audacity.
URSULA, presenting female, 30s-plus — She believes in rules, merit promotion, and supply-side economics and doesn’t suffer fools gladly.
MAE, presenting female, 30s-plus — A self-made woman, she is the group’s leader who finds the management of men ridiculously easy, and has mastered the management of women as well.
SYNOPSIS: In the mid-1980s, five aging practitioners of the oldest profession are faced with a diminishing clientele, increased competition, and aching joints. With wit, compassion, and humor, they struggle to find and learn new tricks as they fight to stay in the “Life.”
