7 p.m., March 23 & 24 at the Theatre
Auditions for The Oldest Profession by Paula Vogel and directed by Shane Miller will be 7 p.m., March 23 and 24. The show will be on stage June 5-7 and 11-14; tickets go on sale May 2.
The auditions will consist of cold readings from the script. Auditioners will fill out an audition form and provide a list of scheduling conflicts. (Rehearsal schedules will be created based on cast availability.)
ROLES
VERA, presenting female, 30s-plus — The youngest in the group, she is loyal, sensitive, no matter her years, still a girl.
EDNA, presenting female, 30s-plus — She is a good time girl who loves her work and is assigned to the more adventurous clientele.
LILLIAN, presenting female, 30s-plus — She turns the heads of much younger men and is a woman of great style and great audacity.
URSULA, presenting female, 30s-plus — She believes in rules, merit promotion, and supply-side economics and doesn’t suffer fools gladly.
MAE, presenting female, 30s-plus — A self-made woman, she is the group’s leader who finds the management of men ridiculously easy.
SYNOPSIS
In the mid-1980s, five aging practitioners of the oldest profession are faced with a diminishing clientele, increased competition, and aching joints. With wit, compassion, and humor, they struggle to find and learn new tricks as they fight to stay in the “Life.”
